SURGERY WITH LASER AND RADIOFREQUENCIES
In our area of specialization, the use of CO2 Laser in some cases is indispensable: in choanal atresia (of the nose), often in surgery on the larynx (papillomas, tumors, etc.) in surgery for otosclerosis (stapedotomy), and sometimes, in surgery on the oropharynx.
However, we cannot deny that these days it is used much less since for many cases, in the last 8-10 years, it has been replaced by radiofrequencies. This is because they are more «gentle» on the tissues, which are not singed as they are with the Laser. For this reason, surgery on the nasal conchaes, on the mouth (for snoring, apnea, removal of tonsils or tumors) and the tongue, as well as procedures on the skin, radiofrequencies have completely replaced Laser.
Procedures have become more painless, usually do not require hospitalization, and post surgical progress is much quicker.
